Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before planning your Mongolia trip. More detailed answers are available in our full travel guide.
Full FAQ →The best time to visit is June to early September. The weather is mild, the grasslands are at their most lush, and major festivals like Naadam (July 11–13) take place. For the Golden Eagle Festival, late September and early October are ideal. For the truly adventurous, the Ice Festival at Lake Khövsgöl in March is an unforgettable winter experience.
Many countries — including the US, Canada, UK, EU member states, Japan, South Korea, and Australia — enjoy visa-free entry for up to 30 days. Others can apply online via the official e-Visa portal at evisa.mn (USD $53, processed in 5–7 business days). Our full Knowledge Base has a detailed visa guide with a country-by-country table.
Even in summer, temperatures can swing from warm afternoons to cold nights. We recommend the layering system: a windproof/waterproof outer shell, a warm fleece mid-layer, quick-dry hiking trousers, and broken-in ankle-support boots. Always pack high-SPF sunscreen, a wide-brimmed sun hat, and insect repellent. Keep luggage to a soft duffel of 15–20kg maximum — hard shell cases are impractical on rough terrain.
